Sifting through charity shops in search of unusual, unique pieces to add to my wardrobe is absolutely one of my favourite past-times. Since charity shops are often inexpensive, they are a great way to experiment with fashion. This way, even if something doesn't quite work out how you had imagined, then at least you didn't break the bank.
Today, I am going to be showing you some of my most recent charity shop finds. There is quite a lot here, but these clothes have been collected over a long period.
So, let's begin!
no. 1 (& probably my favourite)
Maroon Shoulder Bag, (£8.00)
I have been seeing shoulder bags like this e v e r y w h e r e - Instagram, Depop, Urban Outfitters, but none as nice as this for only £8. It is a gorgeous colour, matching with pretty much any outfit. Being genuine leather (as the tag claims), the quality of the bag is amazing. Typically, I would try to avoid buying genuine leather, but seeing as it's second-hand it doesn't really count, right?!
no. 2
Black and Blue Floral Maxi Tie-Up Skirt, (£1!!!!)
I cannot believe I got this skirt for just £1 - like what?! This particular charity shop was having a £1 sale on a bunch of clothes, but they were all heaped in several huge piles, so you really had to DIG to find anything good. Lets just say, it was worth the digging!
Since this is a wrap around skirt it has a little slit up the leg which makes me feel very fancy when I am walking around. I sewed in a couple extra buttons to allow for adjustment when I eat too much, get a food baby and need a little more wiggle room, lol. I wore this on a picnic recently, (as seen in the picture above) and I definitely needed to adjust the waistline after inhaling a ton of snacks.
no. 3
Blue Top with White Striped Neckline, (£2.50)
This top is a beautiful baby blue colour with a lilac/purple undertone to it. This was from the mens section so never forget to check that section too - you can find little gems in any section, trust me. I particularly love the striped details on the neckline and sleeves (white and baby blue is my favourite combination!). I'd style this top with a white tennis skirt or jeans. It also looks cute with a little white turtle neck underneath (as seen in the picture above).
no. 4
Baby Blue Cropped Cardigan, (£3.25)
If this was in Urban Outfitters would probably be like £30/40 so what a steal for £3.25! This is a super sweet cardigan, and (fun fact), baby blue is my favourite colour.
no. 5
'Good Times' Embroidered White T-Shirt, (£3.00)
This tee is amazing quality. Having a good quality white t-shirt is essential for me as I love to style them underneath jumpers or sweater vests (see below, no. 6). The little embroidered image is so cute, but my favourite thing about it is definitely the 'GOOD TIMES' detail.
no. 6
T H R I F T F L I P !
Green Jasper Conran Jumper ---> Sweater Vest, (£6.50)
I fell in love with this piece for its beautiful colour. I have been seeing this shade of green everywhere at the moment - and I am obsessed. I think the jumper is cute as it is, BUT I am desperate for a sweater vest to style over the top of a white t-shirt (as seen in the pictures above) or over a white long-sleeved turtleneck. I used fabric scissors to cut off the sleeves and I think it does make a difference to using normal scissors. The cut edges are far neater and less likely to fray.
no. 7
Lilac Floral Satin Scarf, (£1.95)
This scarf is so so beautiful. I style it as a head-scarf, but I also quite like how it looks completely covering my head (as seen in the pictures above). But even not styled, this is just pretty to look at, lol. The pictures definitely do not give the scarf's colour and shiny-ness justice.
no. 8
Yellow T-Shirt with Embroidered Floral Neckline, (£3.49)
This is one of the softest tops I own. I initially fell in love with the beautiful yellow colour; then the stunning floral neckline sold me. When I bought it I planned to flip it into cute fitted crop top, but at the moment I quite like the loose fit - what does you guys think? Wish I could copy and paste the t-shirt to have one loose and one cropped, haha.
no. 9
Blue Long-Sleeved Jersey, (£1!)
This jersey gives me serious alternative vibes for some reason. This top was from the amazing £1 sale that I got the black and blue floral skirt (item no. 2). I wasn't too sure about this top at first, but for just £1 it was worth the risk. Besides, since this top is so comfy, I could definitely use it as pj's if I decide I don't like it anymore. I think I will style this with black/white boyfriend jeans or a tennis skirt.
no. 10
Black Velvet Sparkly Top, (£3.75)
This is perfect for a meal out or drinks. Think I'll style this with some light-wash jeans or a dark coloured bodycon skirt.
GRAND TOTAL: £34.44
wow, £34.44 for 10 items - that's £3.44 per item!
Did you like what I found? What was your favourite piece? Let me know in the comments!
I hope this post has inspired you to shop second-hand as you will find pieces that are a little different to what everyone else is wearing. Plus, opting to shop second-hand over fast-fashion companies is so much better for the environment. And of course, it is so much cheaper! So, save ya coins and shop second-hand!
Thank- you so much for reading!
